Victorian Pine · Baltic Pine · Full Restoration
This piece came in slowly forgotten. Sitting at the back of a garage, the timber dulled under a darkened varnish that never really belonged to it. It had belonged to someone's grandfather. Not just furniture. It had already lived a life.
Baltic pine, properly stripped and finished with a custom stain mix that came up in a warm honey tone, is one of the warmer timbers to work with. The grain has those subtle variations and natural markings that only come from age. The challenge was bringing all of that back without erasing it.
That varnish did not want to let go. Uneven and stubborn. The curves made everything harder. Flat surfaces are forgiving, curves are not. But slowly, the timber came back.
The original brass handles were cleaned and retained. The drawers re-aligned for smooth, reliable use. Inside, a dark floral print liner. When it all came together, it stopped looking like something rescued. It just looked right.
